New Company Registration Scam

Whenever a new company is formed at Companies House it represents an opportunity for scammers. The Companies House database is a rich source for these loathsome individuals.

We have recently become aware of a letter being circulated to newly formed businesses that asks for a registration to a company registry and a secure vault, in order to make sure that official documents are properly secure and organised. As with all such scams it asks for a registration fee and marks it for immediate attention. A discount is given for a COVID-19 New Business Relief.

The letter is addressed properly to a new Director and shows the company name. It looks very similar to correspondence from Companies House.

There is no charge by HMRC for establishing a Government Gateway account or by Companies House for a Webfiling account.
